01 Overview

A UX-led redesign of a hotel booking app, made during the UX Design Institute professional diploma.

Booking a hotel is one of the more stressful things people do on a phone. It costs a lot, it matters, and most apps make it harder by showing everything at once.

I ran one user interview for this, and an hour of it gave me more than I expected. Talking to someone about a booking they had actually made, rather than one they might make, turned up things I would not have thought to ask about.

02 Research

The research ran in three parts. I started with an in-depth interview focused on a hotel booking the participant had actually made, then widened it with a user survey to see how far those patterns held. Usability testing on the prototype showed where the flow still tripped people up, and fed back into the design.

03 Design

The redesign prioritises trust signals at the moment they matter most: cancellation policy on the results card, verified photo count on hover, and a booking summary that doesn't require the user to scroll back up to confirm.

04 Outcome

The full process, start to finish.

Delivered as a complete UX case study covering research synthesis, journey maps, annotated wireframes, and a high-fidelity prototype. My professors responded well to it, which meant a lot at that stage.
